Dissent.04—Anglo-Saxons Hollerin Across the Pond w/ John Arcto, the Anglofuturist

Dearly beloved listener,

Welcome to Dissent.04 of dog and pony show’s SPECTACLE OF DISSENT!

Our guest this week is none other than the young lad, the divisive Brit, the firebrand upstart, the political savant, the Anglofuturist

himself!

Here in Substack Land, Mr. Arcto has made quite a name for himself as a student of politics with his “Factions of the Rightosphere” series which details 21(!) factions within the broader right-wing movement. Though people will have their differences from Arcto’s classifications, this series is nevertheless quite informative as a primer on the right-wing, and I recommend checking it out if you haven’t.

Recently, Arcto has caused a bit of a stir in the Substack “Rightosphere” with a series of notes culminating in his new piece “Why I'm No Longer Calling Myself 'Dissident Right'” wherein he explains his dissatisfactions with the DR and settles on a new faction as a Right-wing Progressive.

Whether it’s to your dismay or relief, we don’t get into much of this mumbo-jumbo.

Instead, Arcto and I have a jolly good time just chumming it up as Anglo cousins, with Arcto taking a particular interest in the American South and U.S. politics generally. Arcto is a smart lad with tons of energy and potential, so I encourage everyone to subscribe to his project and follow him on his political journey. I look forward to talking with him more, especially on British history and culture.

I am excited to announce that DISSENT.05 will feature the inimitable renaissance man Shazam Watkins, perhaps best known for his work narrating the audiobooks of Mike Ma’s groundbreaking bestseller Harassment Architecture (2019) (which cost him his major record label deal with a Sony imprint) and its stellar follow-up Gothic Violence (2021).
In addition, Shazam has also provided the narration for Paul Town’s It Is The Secret (2019) and John: A Novel (2021), authored his own book A Fool’s Renaissance (2022), and has a new single out called REPENTENCE with more music and narration in the works.
People, Shazam and I talked for hours. About everything from homeschooling and the Satanic music industry, to evangelical church trauma and the all-redeeming Blood of Jesus Christ, to the old anti-establishment health nut alt-left and the state of right-wing art and discourse. Can’t wait to share it with you. I’m aiming to have the episode ready to release within the next couple of weeks, so subscribe now and stay tuned.
