Carpe Diem Anno Domini

A reading of Carpe Diem by Robert Frost & Carpe Diem Anno Domini by ringleader
It’s upon us now—the New Year.
Another one for the ages as God unfurls
His story unto us.

Well, what we can make out of it, at least,
through our own meagre frames.
Where does the time go?

All the old somesuches and whonows and neverbefores.
But they’re all really alwaysbeens in the apple of God’s eye.
So why do I think I can do or change anything?

Thank the Lord I don’t or I’d be a much sadder man.
Because I know the Lord and I know He knows me.
Because I know that I want to fulfill His plan.

I know my blood and sweat and tears are at the foot of that cross.
Right at the only place they have any worth.
Because I’ll shed them to be sure—this world will see to that.

So why let them be shed for nothing?
When I can give glory to God—the only One who knows me.
The only One who can ever redeem suffering.

So I say Sic Semper Anno Domini to this New Year
And every year before and every year since
For every day is seized by the Blood of Jesus.

As I thank Him for every breath
And lay down at the foot of the cross.
He sees to the rest, this moment, year, and the next.
