This week on SPECTACLE OF DISSENT, I had the pleasure of speaking with Cody Justice, founder of Sacra Press. Cody also publishes here on Substack at Appalachian Primitive.

Cody and Sacra Press caught my attention due to the pushback they’ve recently received for their republication of the verbotenbuch Positive Christianity by Cajus Fabricius. Cody wrote an excellent piece in defense of Sacra Press’ selection of the book which I found very well reasoned, thoughtful, and imbued with a solid dose of Christian charity: “Why Publish Positive Christianity in the Third Reich?”

I encourage everyone to go give it a read. After I read it myself, I knew I would appreciate having a conversation with Cody about the book and wider context surrounding it, so I am honored that he agreed to come on the show and talk with me.

  • People are waking up across the board to the evils going on in the world.

  • The climate of Weimar Republic Germany vis a vis the West today.

  • Nazis did not appear ex nihilo—so why did they?

  • Sacra Press’ publication of Positive Christianity helps people explore that question in an effort towards true understanding.

  • The nazis weren’t burning bibles like mass media programming told everyone.

  • The book burnings would be comparable to if some hackers decided to totally wipe all porn off the internet (ANONYMOUS ACTIVATE GO GO GO!)

  • I push my theory that smartphones are literal portals à la scrying glasses and orbs.

  • A large swath of the Church is simply naive in regard to some of the deeper roots of these issues.

  • Even the crusades and the link to ongoing muslim terror is overlooked.

  • The Old Testament is replete with God’s wisdom that mass migration can be God’s judgment for disobedience.

  • 43 The stranger that is within thee shall get up above thee very high; and thou shalt come down very low. 44 He shall lend to thee, and thou shalt not lend to him: he shall be the head, and thou shalt be the tail. Deuteronomy 28: 43-44

  • We are trapped in a liberal mythos, and Sacra Press’ mission is to “Publish the sacred truth for a new day to renew the Christian West.”

  • Cody discusses a sermon he gave about the false religions masquerading as Christianity.

  • Christianity today is struggling with a disconnect between inner faith and the outward expression of faith.

  • Cody and I discuss the implications of this on the national, local, and individual levels.

  • Cody suggests that a core issue causing this disconnect is a misunderstanding of nature.

  • The Christian man is the truest and ultimate expression of man aside from Christ.

  • Galatians 3: 28 is widely misrepresented to push the idea that ethnicity and race have no meaning and are not real, but that is not the context of the verse.

    • 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

  • We discuss the prevalence of this kind of subversion in the Church and the question of where its roots lie.

  • Satan is at work, and God’s judgment is at hand

  • Cody discusses his friend Michael Spangler who was divested from ministry in the Orthodox Presbyterian Church (OPC) over such issues. They host the Old Paths Podcast together and discuss Michael’s divestiture in depth here.

  • The irony that the OPC was founded to be a more conservative offshoot of the Presbyterian Church in the United States of America (PCUSA)

  • I mention Reformed Zoomer’s plan for a new Reformation/Reconquista of the liberalizing denominations:

  • Cody respects the spirit of the idea but does note that that kind of effort is not the only way to take ground.

  • Specifically, the doctrine of secession is a tried and true viable method that is much more logistically feasible in many instances due to denomination ownership of property.

  • A local PCUSA church that Cody knows, for example, is more conservative but they have no power to either leave or reform PCUSA because of their size. They’d lose the church building.

  • Some larger Methodist churches have been able to buy the property from the United Methodists but it comes down to a matter of money.

  • I ask Cody if he’s familiar with the book The Doctrine of the Lesser Magistrates by Matthew Trewhella

  • I note how interposition in American is tied to the stands against federal integration, gay marriage, etc.

  • I ask Cody about the ethos of the Puritans and the origins of the radical abolitionist mindset which is the ancestor of woke

  • He mentions the distinction between the radical offshoots and broader Puritan movement

  • I jig around in the briar patch about various things from the Oneidas to Uncle Tom’s Cabin to MLK Jr. for a minute

  • We start talking about the New Constitution as coined by Christopher Caldwell in his 2020 book The Age of Entitlement

  • Cody emphasizes that we can leverage our own capacity against this, both online and in person

  • Many are making significant advances in person, such as Doug Wilson’s Christ Church in Moscow, Idaho and other groups

  • Cody recommends the Stone Choir podcast’s episode on MLK: Michael ‘Martin Luther’ King: Arch-Heretic

  • I tell the story of my dad being taught a anti-Christian narrative of the crusades even in 1950s small town South elementary school

  • Cody relates that this is indicative of the shame programming that has infested the West and Church—notes specifically how Timothy Keller was particularly susceptible to this in his piece Timothy Keller and the Conscience of the West

  • The ignorance of mass murder of Christians by communists

  • What practical considerations does Positive Christianity have for Christians today?

  • The American Colonies were Christian ethnostates
